<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">KNOCK ON WOOD: There are several theories about the origin of this very common practice. One goes back to the child's game of `tag.' In one version of this game the child who is able to touch a tree, thereby touching wood, is free from capture.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Then there is a Biblical theory that the wood symbolizes the cross on which Christ was crucified. In Galatians (6:14) we find `But God forbid that I should glory, save the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.' The theory here is that if you have made an exaggerated boast you will be forgiven if you turn your thoughts to the Cross.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Still another notion is that `knocking on wood' goes far back into ancient times, when spirits were thought to live in trees. So should danger threaten, simply rap on the trunk of a tree and summon up the aid of the good spirit within.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">There is an Irish belief that you `knock on wood' to let the leprechauns know that you are thanking them for a bit of good luck.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">A Jewish version says it originated during the Spanish Inquisition under Torquemada during the 1490s. During that time Jews were in flight and since temples and synagogues were built of wood, they evolved a code to use in knocking on doors to gain admission. Since this resulted in lives being saved, it became commonplace to `knock on wood' for good luck.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Take your choice of these five theories - but be sure to `knock on wood' so you will pick the right one. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">even if they are Buddhists, Christians or Moslems.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Amulets and other items like the Ta krut are used as a good luck charm </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">or for protection against evil spirits or ghosts.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">The Ta Krut is an ornate plaited cord </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">good luck charm and mostly worn by young boys around their waist.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">The parents provide a Ta Krut for their beloved sons</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">to protect them.</span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">When the boys get older, often a Palad Khik</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">(a small phallus like object) is added to the Ta Krut,</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">to enhance fertility and for good luck in love affairs.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Most times these Ta Kruts are gotten at a Buddhist temple from the monks. Some candle and incense shops sell them also. </span><br />

Wat Khao Lang is now making a beautiful amulet. It’s called Phra Mahachackrapat. You can see it on this poster. It’s a metal amulet/charm, approx. 1” wide and 2” tall. It’s made with to wear on a necklace. It comes in a red velvet box with a signed paper from Ajahn Daeng the abbot of Wat Khao Lang. The amulet/charm will also be blessed by him. On the back of the amulet/charm is a Pali blessing, asking the Angels and other Dieties in the heavens to bless the wearer of this amulet/charm. On the front is a place for your birthday. The month, day, year and whether you were born in the morning or afternoon. Also what day of the week you were born. If you don’t know the day of the week, no problem, we can figure it out. The proceeds of this purchase will go to the temple building fund. We are in the process of building a new Sala ( a worship hall), a new dining room and a new small building to house overnight visitors. If you would like to have a new Lucky Charm/amulet, this would be a good time. We will only make so many. About a thousand, is what I hear. We are asking $45.00 and offering free shipping to the U.S. and Canada. Thank you and bless you in advance… <br />

We visited several Buddhist temples around Lopburi, Thailand. We didn’t find any interesting Lucky Charms but we did discover a unusual temple. It was built into the side of a mountain. The man made temple itself was only about 60 years old, but the caves have been there for who knows how long. People who live there say that wandering monks have been staying in the caves there in solitude and meditation for many, many years. Caves lead off from the temple itself and at intervals has Buddha statues and places to worship. There are bats everywhere hanging off the roofs. The abbot there says that there are so many bats, that in the evening when they go out to feed, it takes about 2 hours for them to all get out. Here are some photo’s of this temple. It has a long Thai name, but I just call it the “Bat Temple”. <br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOlsHad_nb94vd9U7CaC0zVZdaMVw5fhOFxeXZsiWYKXFgBpDialA6CZFsX2PPfFWEISbjxkzlV1ae6YrAM5gwaOgHLr8CRF90R1etxcJnw6uQRK_4WVOF56Eu2rLx_B8ch8wtg-brKuk/s1600-h/100_4434.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5261078034739193346" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 133px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOlsHad_nb94vd9U7CaC0zVZdaMVw5fhOFxeXZsiWYKXFgBpDialA6CZFsX2PPfFWEISbjxkzlV1ae6YrAM5gwaOgHLr8CRF90R1etxcJnw6uQRK_4WVOF56Eu2rLx_B8ch8wtg-brKuk/s200/100_4434.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUH3j368bKF6-auIkFThKWy29n3sizoycUC_UzNL1utMxvEd4PKk44tfCgm-j_uGkSf6iwSgVHjR8CQkZkK9xsQffxPT2Xl-CiEKO7o5TNDtZuEVzG5hW0fcqFaZgLSnM731T4nZCSZbs/s1600-h/100_4428.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5261078480326055938" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 133px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUH3j368bKF6-auIkFThKWy29n3sizoycUC_UzNL1utMxvEd4PKk44tfCgm-j_uGkSf6iwSgVHjR8CQkZkK9xsQffxPT2Xl-CiEKO7o5TNDtZuEVzG5hW0fcqFaZgLSnM731T4nZCSZbs/s200/100_4428.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhB2e7QnIH2Td1poFJtLdc90bvLI3N6m4c8UtJg2pHN_fw8PNGQIzE5Rwxm5Dv36B6lWM1PX7U4WXQJuyJrwd6W8YqHbstzo5lTA4KAEjlH7tBCocu-xd5BYdDuE4SCJGC0CQzpegzZcjM/s1600-h/100_4430.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5261078905931446050" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 133px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhB2e7QnIH2Td1poFJtLdc90bvLI3N6m4c8UtJg2pHN_fw8PNGQIzE5Rwxm5Dv36B6lWM1PX7U4WXQJuyJrwd6W8YqHbstzo5lTA4KAEjlH7tBCocu-xd5BYdDuE4SCJGC0CQzpegzZcjM/s200/100_4430.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrCjWhHksqIYUopQ8ss58AUEjpXiJCaYKHhdvEvZJ2Totqmg33W40kV6DVOYm2VtkUWEysdTv4DS3_tR74cuh-r0HI8OysoM5W_WrdEvO1jIl4FMIkBvFJwnQAhq0NH4-fqfA6-wZwVqM/s1600-h/wat+khao+wong+-+box+set+-+blue+-+d.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5253492490640599890" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrCjWhHksqIYUopQ8ss58AUEjpXiJCaYKHhdvEvZJ2Totqmg33W40kV6DVOYm2VtkUWEysdTv4DS3_tR74cuh-r0HI8OysoM5W_WrdEvO1jIl4FMIkBvFJwnQAhq0NH4-fqfA6-wZwVqM/s200/wat+khao+wong+-+box+set+-+blue+-+d.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><strong><span style="color:#000099;">Boxed set of 5 from Wat Khao Wong</span></strong><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpuMbgfVRVndTblEZZaGdUbsuGLVP7Sz-0DSKJfY9ssKX6-PsGBzGBEIG4vv6YxReop9lE2KEXGmi_OYDn4MsXPAT3nYNrPzAM2rte18xNFSNQi9dn7o1o8L-68TxDMZ8G9_E0The-hbY/s1600-h/Wat+Sing+-+blk+-+front.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234943526482894306" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpuMbgfVRVndTblEZZaGdUbsuGLVP7Sz-0DSKJfY9ssKX6-PsGBzGBEIG4vv6YxReop9lE2KEXGmi_OYDn4MsXPAT3nYNrPzAM2rte18xNFSNQi9dn7o1o8L-68TxDMZ8G9_E0The-hbY/s200/Wat+Sing+-+blk+-+front.jpg" border="0" /></a> <strong><em><span style="color:#000066;">Black Jatukarm – Wat Sing</span></em><br /><br /></strong><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdq4YdRoZJd31jBL_Ev1CZzfiL-0JdzpT0s9xZmr6XOJU-PU9uwT7NUQFf88zO9Kv7qWIYVPJ5EozxLwzNKgRoUbRtaL811vY1KhG1G5ZgweQaoUUFeS41iNz-JbAzxrIf0GSCwdgyCiY/s1600-h/"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234943064287481842" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilf_ww3f-VA1v5w6YkSzN7xwzoJDvA1NY6A2knqnYYkZd_vJnuggSRGQsw3aOw3E0e2Z69wTtcIOc3xOmKQpdm4EE8OV9r1lqCnpkXqrKBLB5UvlKOI6HJTE0jR3HTa57PX248SmxjnIw/s200/%23105.jpg" border="0" /></a> <em><span style="color:#000066;"><strong>9 Deva (angels) - Wat Khao Lang</strong></span></em><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFDUrJ3z8Y-TpEtHW5PFBocOpA3Gx7WR0oqYzOnzezCmIQ9nOrJ-b9SgZY88ybTmn522tMdbXlEaB1cSxr5E6Yv76-dG7MzyWSZCNRU-85AMHdaSnD1dQ_Fq_v7btdperAFsth12yTBmM/s1600-h/White+Jatu.+-+Wat+Khao+Wong+-+front.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234942571041984050" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFDUrJ3z8Y-TpEtHW5PFBocOpA3Gx7WR0oqYzOnzezCmIQ9nOrJ-b9SgZY88ybTmn522tMdbXlEaB1cSxr5E6Yv76-dG7MzyWSZCNRU-85AMHdaSnD1dQ_Fq_v7btdperAFsth12yTBmM/s200/White+Jatu.+-+Wat+Khao+Wong+-+front.jpg" border="0" /></a> <em><span style="color:#000066;"><strong>Jatukarm – Wat Khao Wong<br /><br /></strong></span></em>Good Luck Charms are a way of life in Thailand and Southeast Asia. These people believe that when chants and prayers are spoken to these charms, the spirits invoked will reciprocate to the owner of the charm or amulet, Good Luck and Protection from harm. Is this possible? It doesn’t cost much to find out and May be well worth the money.<br /><br /><br />Thailand with its 60 million +/- people are very spiritual and superstitious.<br />Almost all Thai people you meet wear a Good Luck Charm or Magical Amulet on a necklace around their neck. Which kind of Charm or Amulet they wear normally, but not always, depends on several things: The part of country their come from and/or their occupation. They wear these Good Luck Charms and Magical Amulets either for Good Luck and Prosperity or Protection. Sometimes these Charms and Amulets serve both situations.<br /><br /><br />The Basic Question of course is;<br />Do these Good Luck Charms and Magical Amulets work? Do they bring Good Luck and/or offer protection? A large number of Thai people swear they do. Many Thai’s attribute their winning the lottery, getting a major promotion or finding their soul mate because of the power in these Good Luck Charms/Magical Amulets. Many Thai people claim they were saved from being harmed in a major accident and many Thai policemen claimed to having been saved in a sticky situation from being either shot or stabbed because of the power in these Good Luck Charms/Magical Amulets.<br /><br />So, do they “Really” work?<br />I know only this for sure. I have never seen a Thai soldier without one, a Thai policeman without one and every month when someone wins the Thai lottery, the person winning swears to everyone, that they won because of the power in their Good Luck Charm or Magical Amulet.<br /><br />If your looking for Good Luck Charms or Magic Amulets, then you've come to the right place<br />p.s. I wear one and I won a small lottery once and haven’t been shot yet. :-)<br /><br />These three Good Luck Charms priced at: <span style="font-size:130%;"><span style="color:#000099;"><strong>$105.00 ea</strong></span>.</span> * mention in comment section at paypal which one you want. </div><br /><br /><span style="font-size:130%;color:#000099;"><strong>Free Shipping</strong></span> <form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post"><br /><input type="hidden" value="_s-xclick" name="cmd"><br /><input type="hidden" value="741811" name="hosted_button_id"><br /><input type="image" alt="" src="https://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_buynowCC_LG.gif" border="0" name="submit"><br /><img height="1" alt="" src="https://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/scr/pixel.gif" width="1" border="0" /><br /></form><p align="center"><br /><strong><span style="font-size:180%;color:#000099;">Tuesday - 10/28/08<br /></span></strong><span style="color:#000099;"><strong>I just discover a couple of new amulets for you to choose from.Phra Somdej with Phra Sivalee </strong>on the back.
